The French Riviera

The French Riviera (known in French as the Côte d’Azur) is the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France, extending from Cassis in the west to the Italian border in the east where the Italian Riviera joins. The principality of Monaco is a semi-enclave within the region, surrounded on three sides by France and fronting the Mediterranean.

This coastline was one of the first modern resort areas thanks to its Mediterranean climate with sunny, hot, dry summers and mild winters. Nice for example has 2,668 hours of sunshine a year.
