From Nice to Cannes
Saint Paul de Vence
We leave Nice driving along the Promenade des Anglais before heading inland to the jewel of the Côte d’Azur, St. Paul de Vence. This small romantic, medieval, village with its cobbled streets is encircled by its fortress, constructed for defense against Sarrasin attacks.
As you stroll through the village you will discover many craft shops and fascinating artist’s studios. Among its narrow streets, stairways, fountains and squares, you will find corners of pure poetry where artists and artisans live. You can visit the Chapelle du Rosaire, painted by Matisse and the Maeght Foundation, which collects the most important works of masters as Miro and Chagall.
Antibes
We return to the coastal road to enjoy the journey to Antibes; its 16th Century Fort Carré, which was used as the villain’s fortress in the James Bond film Never Say Never Again , greets us from afar.
We stroll through the old town to the ancient sea walls behind the Picasso Museum and finish our visit with a drink on the authentic Provençal market.
Through the great arches in front of the harbor, we discover the world’s largest super yachts moored in Port Vauban, the largest marina of the French Mediterranean.
Cannes
Finally we reach the opulent city of Cannes. We can feel like a superstar as we cruise the Boulevard de la Croisette or pose on the red-carpeted steps in front of the Palais des Festivals where each year the Cannes Film Festival is held. We can heat up our credit cards in the elegant designer boutiques, stroll along the fine sandy beach, or enjoy an espresso coffee in the lounge or terrace of some of the finest hotels in the world.
We will travel back to Nice along the sea and the red rocks of the Massif de l’Esterel.
